Another Saturday morning favorite. We started making this a lot when we first came across Zomick's Challah in a NYC Fairway. Make sure to cut the bread extra thick!
4 eggs
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
½ teaspoon vanilla
8 slices bread *
Sugar
Cinnamon
In a medium sized bowl, beat the eggs slightly. Add salt, milk and vanilla. Dip bread slices into egg mixture and brown each side on a well-buttered griddle. Serve hot sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon & maple syrup. Garnish with fruit.
* Our favorite bread for this recipe is Zomick's Challah, but if you’re not living in the NYC metro area, it will be hard to find (unless you order it online). King’s Hawaiian Sweet Bread also works well, but with this bread make sure to dip each piece into the egg mixture only for a second or two as the bread absorbs quickly.
