Banana Nut Bread

From: Debbi Hutwelker

There is no brown banana in this family that ever goes to waste. This is my mom's recipe and I think she must have made it weekly when I was growing up. The thing that distinguishes it from other banana bread recipes is that it DOES NOT have vanilla extract. It is simple and easy. Very good warm out of the oven with a spread of cream cheese.

Cream:
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
1 cup white sugar
1 egg

Slowly add:
2 cups flour (sifted 3 times)
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 3 large)
3 tbsp. milk

Pour mixture into greased & floured loaf pan. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes.
