½ cup vegetable shortening
3 cups all-purpose flour
Dash of salt
¾ cup warm water
½ cup vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1. Work shortening into flour and salt with a pastry blender or your hands. Add warm water and stir until dough comes together. Roll out into thin rounds 7-8 inches in diameter.
2. Heat oil in a shallow skillet.
3. Quarter each round and drop flat into hot oil (350°), brown lightly about 30 seconds on each side. Remove from skillet and sprinkle to taste with mixed cinnamon & sugar. Make about 60.
